I learned to draft at the moment when computer aided drawing made hand drafting an ancient art. I still use this method because learning to draft was learning a specific way to use the body, and so it engages my emotions while I work, because it’s a language of movement as well as a way of recording thoughts. I feel what I’m doing through my arms, hands, shoulders, fingers. I use this method to imagine with some exactitude things that could be built, and how they might feel.
These drawings are for a large object sitting in an urban landscape—a proposal for a dance space informed by sound and multimedia. I have freely collaged and drawn in multiple layers.
